Description
Up the Western Trail, Point the Tongue North: The fifth novel in this series is a trail drive from north Texas to Dodge City, Kansas up the Western Trail. At the end of the day, the cook would point the tongue of his chuckwagon to the north, based on the North Star. This allowed the herd to be moved in the correct direction the next morning in the event of fog, rain, snow, or even a poor trail boss.
I think what surprised me the most as I researched this book was the number of treacherous rivers that the large herds crossed. I incorporated all of the dangers of a trail drive along with some humor and a little romance. Angel and Rusty, two of the riders, keep this book moving with their personalities and their antics.
Up the Western Trail also includes a map so that the trail drive can be followed and the many rivers can be seen. New characters were created for this novel as well. They will be seen again in future novels including novel number six, Beneath the Western Sky, A Cowboy’s Dream. It will be released in the late spring of 2022.
